Ok, Now The Art Project is Done

Unless I receive an email from Audio Adrenaline in the next several hours or so, the audio will just have to stay off my project.  I learned from Ms. Van Londen that I need to get permission for free or for fee to incorporate the audio I intended on using into my project unless I only allowed 15 seconds or less of the audio to play.  I think my project is better without 15 seconds, otherwise it would be too distracting to have the music play for a short bit and then stop.  At least I learned how to put into the program for future uses when I can get permission for use.  I’m still very happy with the editing I was able to perform as I created a lasting display of those closest to me.

The Art Is Almost Done

I have rather enjoyed this art site project.  I have learned quite a bit about my Video Explosion Deluxe software and YouTube.com’s uploading features.  Now that I know how most of this works, I will enjoy posting more clips on YouTube for the rest of my family and friends to enjoy.  The only thing I do not know the specifics on is if I can use a track off of a CD I own to put with my slideshow.  The copyright tips on YouTube made me very hesitant to put the audio into the show.  I am waiting to hear from Ms. Van Londen about this question I have on the audio.  In the meantime, the pictures and editing look really good.

Ah Hah!! An Idea For The Art Site

My plan for the art project is to utilize different software programs in creating a meaningful slide-show of my family set to a song of my choice.  To make it even more fun, I am going to try to create introduction and transitional slides with colors and text to make the show flow smoothly.  At first glance, it looks like I will be able to use my Video Explosion Deluxe editing program to create the show as a whole.  I will also be able to use a file format conversion program I had previously purchased on-line to copy over home videos.  Of course I will also need to find the pictures of my choice already stored on my computer and/or my camera for the main content.

Post Financial Analysis Project Thoughts

Although I have prior experience with using Excel and some experience using Access,  I was still able to customize their uses for my dream analysis.  In Access, I learned quite a bit about the ‘reports’ wizard features as it relates to tables already created.  I had never used Office Picture Maker before and found not only was it easy to learn how to use through the instructions given, but I found that I will be able to use this program for future use.  Overall, I feel good about using the features of these programs and discovering new tools that will help my life run more efficient down the road.

List of Dreams

I have many dreams for my future including:  traveling across Europe, buying a vacation cabin somewhere scenic, playing golf at least three times a week, buying a ski boat, and making sure I have enough time for my grandchildren down the road.  All of these are great dreams, and I believe that they are attainable, but I have to start somewhere first.  Several of these items my wife and I do not see ourselves enjoying until we are successful in earning our retirement at a reasonable age.  In order to get anywhere in capturing these goals, my wife an I have determined we have to pay our current mortgage off first (which we entered into only two years ago), and unfortunately, earlier than we originally planned.  This has become our priority dream……to pay off our mortgage by the time I am 50 years old instead of the original  60 year of age I would be under the original loan agreement.  If we can accomplish this dream, the rest of our dreams will be so much more feasible to make true.

Analyzing My Financial Future

I know throughout my education, I have been taught to use excel, word, access, and other forms of software to complete homework assignments and projects on an academic level.  However, now I get to use this technology to bring a reality to my life.  Using the technology I have at my fingertips right now will hopefully make it easier if not more clear on what I need to be thinking about now to help ensure my hopes for the future.

Completed Teach Project Thoughts

This teach module taught me a lot of new information about how to optimize objects I want to put on the web.  I was able to use the online optimizing tool, Image Shack and tools in a graphics design program of CorelDraw which I already knew how to use, but never had to optimize with before.  I learned once again the value of learning by teaching as I was forced to teach myself the process before I could someone else.  As far as the financial project is concerned, I still plan on trying to project my dream of retired at age 60 with a paid mortgage on a house I recently began payments on with the addition of possibly a cabin in another state and a ski boat to top it off.

My Teach Site Progress….Almost There

This has been fun learning new areas of WordPress for my teach site.  I have been learning how to utilyze a free web optimizing program for my photos and illustrations.  Other than that, I just have to polish the procedure portion and add the rest of the research on my topic area in the next day.

Teaching to Learn…A Moxi Slide Show

At first I had planned on creating a teaching project on either copying music to or arranging music in my new MP3 player I was given for Christmas.  However, it looks like that topic may pretty well be covered.  What I am excited to learn/teach about has to do with my new cable box I just had installed this last January 12th.  What I noticed is that not only does this Bend Broadband Moxi box allow me to record television, create favorites lists, and tune to radio stations using my television as a display, but is also allows me to upload and display slide shows constructed of pictures I have already taken with my digital camera.  This is all possible through one of the two USB slots in the front of my digital cable box, the functionality of the slide show program integrated within the box, and my remote control.  I can utilize this feature using my digital camera and/or external USB storage device.  This should be fun.

Learning More Every Day About Blogging

I have to admit that the more I learn about this blogging technology, the more fun I am having with it.  This week was interesting as I was able to learn how to incorporate Embedded links to my source sites which allows the reader to be directed much more easily to where I was able to locate my research.  It was interesting to see the difference in this method as opposed to how to embed links in blackboard.

The second challenge was learning how the upload images to my blog.  The instruction given to accomplish this made all the difference in the world as far as simplicity and ease were concerned.  I have to admit, the pictures look pretty darn good in my pages.  I am enjoying learning all of these functions whereas, before this class, I did not even know what blogging was all about as a general topic.

Third, the peer review was extensive in nature due to the length of project requirements, however, I found it very interesting to read not just the five that I commented on and added questions to, but many more.  The innovation and leadership of these women reported on is quite amazing.  Even some of the inventions listed I had heard of, but had no clue of all the uses and functions of some of them.  In addition, it was awesome to learn of several other innovations created by these same women that have never been spoken of to me prior.
